Green Bay, Wis. (May 28, 2008) - The Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce’s Partners in Education celebrated the youth of today at its Youth Celebration on May 8 at the Meyer Theatre, acknowledging graduations from various youth-oriented programs and distributing grants and scholarships.
The students are diverse, representing a variety of school districts and career interests.
Perhaps the most notable was the $10,000 Brian LaViolette Scholarship, which was issued to Benjamin Fischl, Seymour High School. This is only the second such scholarship to be awarded and is presented to one graduating high school senior from the Partners in Education school districts. The award is issued to a student who has shown exemplary achievement throughout his or her high school career. Recipient Ben Fischl will take an appointment to the Air Force Academy and plans to study political science and economics.
"Our community is fortunate to have many talented young people, and Ben Fischl is certainly a young person to make us all proud and optimistic for our future," said Nancy Schopf, vice president of education and leadership, Partners in Education.

Youth Entrepreneur Grant – a grant opportunity for middle/high school students pursuing the excitement and personal rewards of starting their own businesses.

Technical Scholarship Recipients – these promote technical college preparation and may be applied to a technical diploma or associate degree program at the Wisconsin Technical College of the applicant’s choice.
