Current honors key young professionals at Stay Current Luncheon

Green Bay, Wis. (Sept. 30, 2008) –  The 2nd Annual Stay Current Luncheon hosted at the KI Convention Center on Sept. 23 celebrated the collective contributions of the young professionals in the Greater Green Bay area, as well as the four key individuals/companies honored with this year’s young professional awards.
Honorees included:
• Young Professional of the Year – Lisa Casey, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin;
• Young Entrepreneur of the Year – Scott Bushkie, Cornerstone Business Services
• Next Generation Best Place to Work – Schreiber Foods, Inc.
• Esprit de Corps – Jaime Leick, Moving Type LLC
“The presentation of the young professional awards offers Current an opportunity to showcase individuals who have embraced the mission of Current,” said Peter Weiss, vice chair of Current, Nicolet National Bank. “Greater Green Bay has some truly remarkable people and organizations that care about promoting the community and making it a better place to live, work and play.”
Among the many highlights of the event was the unveiling of the results of the recent Global Impact Survey administered to young professionals in the Green Bay area, both members and nonmembers of Current, which compared respondents’ views of Green Bay and Current young professionals network with national averages. In particular, Green Bay fared well in terms of cost of living and the ability to easily get around town. And although the survey highlighted challenges of the community, the Current steering committee believes that many of these challenges could be improved with increased marketing of what the community has to offer.
“The event was attended by a diverse group of individuals, demonstrating the broad appeal Current is generating with respect to community issues and those who want to make an impact,” added Weiss. “As we continue to discuss issues that are important to the Greater Green Bay area, we expect Current to take an active role in delivering on those initiatives important to young professionals.”
Survey results can be found on the Current Web site at www.greenbaycurrent.com.
Rob Davis, director of player development for the Green Bay Packers, served as the event’s keynote speaker.
The event was sponsored by Harbor Village, Jimmy Seas and Marco’s Seafood Club.
