GREEN BAY, WI – The Healthy Lifestyles Cooperative (HLC) of Brown County has announced the selection of Randy Connour as its executive director, effective Nov. 15. He joins Sherry Freeman, education and web site coordinator, in providing staff services to Cooperative members.
The HLC is a Wisconsin cooperative formed in 2006 for the purpose of stabilizing health insurance rates for small employers through cooperative purchasing, personal accountability and healthier lifestyles.
Connour is an occupational health leader with a successful track record of partnering with organizations to create efficient and cost-effective systems that positively impact health and fitness awareness, and thereby lower health care system usage. He most recently served as the vice president of sales for Health Solutions, a leading provider of health and wellness programming, and previously served as the co-founder of Shortstop LLC, the largest occupational health network manager in the U.S.
“Randy is an innovative and strategic problem solver with a proven ability to grow sales for two start-ups in a business-to-business environment. This and his focused wellness and fitness background make him an ideal person to lead the Cooperative in attaining our mission,” noted Phil Hauck, president of the Healthy Lifestyles Cooperative board of directors. In particular, Connour’s experience in targeting high-risk behaviors with cost-effective health enhancement programming, standardized processes and success planning have particular application with the HLC and its membership, he added.
Connour’s hiring is an outgrowth of the Healthy Lifestyles Cooperative’s development and the need for a full- time, dedicated individual to oversee the strategic planning and direction, as well as the day-to-day operations of the HLC. In his role, Connour will negotiate contracts, coordinate health risk appraisal and health coaching efforts, improve the effectiveness of the Cooperative and grow membership.
The hiring of an executive director means that both the partner insurance agents and member companies will receive much more personal attention and contact from the HLC, in turn ensuring their success in attaining more stable health insurance premiums. This will also allow the HLC to develop an effective plan of growth within and potentially outside the Brown County market area.
