Green Bay, Wis. (April 18, 2005) Leadership Green Bay announces that on Wednesday, April 20 at noon there will be a ground breaking at St. Francis Park in Allouez to celebrate the construction of a new restroom facility on the Fox River Trail.

A special thanks goes to Smet Construction Services and Bellin Health, who are the lead sponsors of this project, and to the Friends of the Fox River Trail.

This ground breaking is open to the public.

The construction of the new facility is a volunteer effort being led by a 2004 Leadership Green Bay Small Group and includes the Brown County Government, the Department of Natural Resources, local businesses and community members.

The project includes fundraising to support the building of a facility that will be open year round and will be suitable for people with disabilities. The facility is designed to complement the existing gazebo at the park and have water and sewer connections. This restroom facility is the only one that exists on the northern end of the Fox River Trail.

A program of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Green Bay is an enrichment program for community leaders. Each year, 40 leaders are selected to take part in the enriching learning experience. The group is divided into smaller working teams that each develop a community service project with the goal of enhancing the Green Bay area. The St. Francis Park Restroom Facility is one of those projects. Other projects have included The Bay Beach Train Depot, The Brown County Car Seat Fitting Station, Chess in the City, and more.

For more information about the St. Francis Park Restroom Facility on the Fox River Trail, or to obtain photos, please call Jennifer Schnabel, 920/432-3393 ext. 8644, or 920/609-8568 (cell).
