FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Green Bay, Wis.- (March 31, 2008)- Leadership Green Bay, a leadership development program of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, acknowledged a few Green Bay area community leaders’ contributions to the community at its All Class Reunion at the Lambeau Field Atrium on Feb. 14.

Those honored include:

·         Mary Jane Herber, Brown County Library, the recipient of the Leo Frigo Leadership Award;

·         Advantage Office Solutions, first-time recipient of the John M. and Meredith B. Rose Business Award for Community Involvement and Leadership;

·         Leadership Green Bay alumni Gregg Bushner, Eric Urben and Heather Heil, Advantage Office Solutions; Karen Recka, Brown County Human Services; Michelle Farnsworth, Humana; Patrick Blaney, Liebmann, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry S.C.; DeLisse Brunette, Aurora Health Care; Paul Bredael, Wisconsin Public Service;  and Gene Summerfield, Morgan Stanley as recipients of the Leadership Green Bay Special Recognition Award.

“We are pleased to honor these individuals and companies for their services not only to Leadership Green Bay, but the community as a whole. These awards are really a great example of community stewardship at its best and all of the above are very deserving of the honor,” said Jeanne Agneessens, program manager, Leadership Green Bay.

The Leo Frigo Leadership Award has been bestowed upon a deserving member of the community since 2001 and was previously given since 1995 in the name of the Leadership Green Bay Leadership Award. “We often joke that Mary Jane Herber is this area’s historical treasure, and it’s true,” said Jeanne Agneessens, program manager, Leadership Green Bay. Herber is well known for her role in the genealogy department at the Brown County Library but is also an active member of the Green Bay-De Pere Antiquarian Society, board for the National Railroad Museum and Brown County Historical Society, and for contributions to the Leadership Green Bay History Day and other notable projects.

Advantage Office Solutions is honored in the name of the Roses, who were well known and respected for their strong commitment and sense of responsibility to give back to the community. “Under the direction of Shamra Van Ark and Paul Charles, this company has largely supported LGB through not only sponsorships, donated items and sending their leadership through the program, but by their continued support of the program. In their employ, we have four chairs and vice chairs that have boosted the alumni of our association,” said Agneessens.

The Special Recognition Award is given on an as-needed basis to an individual or group that has in some way enhanced or shown extraordinary service to LGB and/or the community. “These individuals are graduates of LGB and have organized to create events for our alumni, focusing on social, service, education and communications,” said Agneessens. These include the LGB Golf Outing, Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up, Political Pursuit Forum and the Salvation Army bell ringing event.
