Encourage K-12 Students to exercise their right to vote via Kids Voting
GREEN BAY, WI (Oct. 28, 2008) - Partners in Education, a division of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring Kids Voting for the Presidential and Gubernatorial elections.
Partners in Education serves public and private schools in the 10 area school districts—Ashwaubenon, Denmark, De Pere, Green Bay, Howard-Suamico, Luxemburg-Casco, Pulaski, Seymour, West De Pere, Wrightstown. Students in these districts will have access to voting through Kids Voting USA online at their schools on – or before – Nov. 4.
Kids Voting USA combines civic learning in the classroom, family dialogue and a voting experience to create a powerful strategy for preparing the next generation of citizens. Kids Voting USA operates through a national network of community-based affiliates. Locally, Partners in Education is sponsoring this program in area schools. Partners in Education sponsorship includes Kids Voting K-12 civic education classroom activities and resources and Election Day voting. Kids Voting activities focus upon developing students’ critical thinking, information-gathering and decision-making skills and encourages group discussion. Voting will be done online at the school sites and reported by Partners in Education to schools and media on Election Day after 5 p.m.
