International Business Development Consortium Synergizes with Four Local Chambers
Green Bay, Wis. (August 29, 2005) The International Business Development Consortium (IBDC) announces today plans to expand its efforts to surrounding Northeast Wisconsin communities, including Oshkosh, Fond du Lac and the Fox Cities, effective September 1. Previously under the roof of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and Advance, the chamber’s economic development division, IBDC will also support global business needs for the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, the Fond du Lac Association of Commerce and the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce under the new name, Highway 41 Corridor International Development Group.
The new structure of the Highway 41 Corridor International Development Group aligns with the regional development efforts of the Northeast Wisconsin Chambers Coalition, which includes the efforts of the same four local chambers working together to address business-related legislative and development issues. The Highway 41 Corridor International Development Group is an evolution of the Chambers’ Coalition efforts, and it will offer direct services in each of the four coalition communities on a weekly basis.
" I am looking forward to expanding our service offerings to a greater number of companies throughout Northeastern Wisconsin during a time of increasing global competitiveness," said Fred Monique, program manager, Highway 41 Corridor International Development Group.
The mission of the International Business Development Program is to promote development of international trade and investment throughout Northeastern Wisconsin by providing the business community a broad and comprehensive range of programs, services, and information to enable them to successfully enter, or to enhance an existing position in the global marketplace. Accordingly, one of the primary activities engaged in by the program is to provide counseling and assistance services, on a no fee basis, to those small-to-medium companies throughout the region who are interested in expanding their business to international markets. These services can initially be divided into three broad categories: International Market Research, Commercial Assistance Services, and Networking Opportunities.
Since it’s inception, this International Program has received distinctive recognition for its efforts and various programming activities. In 2003, it received an Export Assistance Recognition Certificate from the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration for demonstrated assistance activities in helping area businesses export. Also, in 2004 Governor Doyle awarded us the Small Export Assistance Award for the efforts in developing Wisconsin Exports.
