Health Insurance Cooperative Announces Sign-ups in Advance of Deadline
Green Bay, Wis., (June 6, 2006) As of today, the newly-forming Brown County small business health insurance organization, the Healthy Lifestyles Cooperative, has received more than 80 member applications with over 1,200 covered employees, the group reported.
Small businesses and other organizations have until June 15 to submit member applications to be a part of the first pool.
The Cooperative is a joint effort of the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Non Profit Resource Group to create an insurance and health system provider buying pool enhanced with wellness, long-term commitments and personal responsibility initiatives. Successful recent experiences by large organizations incorporate all of these thrusts and Coop founders feel they are integral to creating a buying cooperative that can succeed over the long-term. They contend a major emphasis on wellness is essential to achieve the Coop's objective of holding health care percentage cost increases to single digits annually.
The Coop board has held sixteen information sessions for interested small organizations, and will soon publish its requests for proposals to interested insurance carriers, wellness plan providers, and Health Savings Account administrators. For information about the Coop, contact Nan Nelson at Chamber, 920-473-8704.
