GREEN BAY, WI (Oct. 6, 2008) – Partners in Education, a program of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Start Smart of Brown County – The Early Childhood Council and the Green Bay Press-Gazette are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 Families in Good Company Awards:

These prestigious awards honor these Greater Green Bay Area employers who have made a commitment to family-friendly policies, an investment in our children, our future and the workforce of tomorrow.
Enzymatic Therapy was selected for living its core value of sincere respect for people through efforts like special matching donation programs for selected charities in which employees are interested and day-off donation programs to assist employees struck by tragedy that requires them to be gone from work beyond the duration of their accumulated vacation time. The company also conducts a Jeans Week every month, with employees donating $5 to a charity for the privilege to wear jeans. Enzymatic Therapy is also currently hosting a series of “Positive Parenting” Lunch n’ Learns for employees and offers a mentorship program that encourages participants to reach out across departments to foster professional development.
Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance realizes the importance families play in their lives of employees. The company offers resources and policies that allow employee manage their work/life events which in turn results in a high performance culture. Ameriprise offers employees a generous sick time and paid-off time policy that allows them to use their time off as needed, including attendance at school conferences, family doctor appointments, baseball games, school plays, etc. The company also provides up to eight hours of paid time off for employees to participate in volunteer activities the company sponsors and education programs.
To help employees manage the challenges of their work and home lives, it offers LifeWorks, a nationwide resource; a sick child care program that pays employees up to $50 a day for six days to find care when their child is ill and cannot attend regular day care; and a medical leave policy for new hires who haven’t yet met FMLA requirements.

Managers at the company also work with colleagues to support them during time of need, accommodating life needs with flexible work alternative work schedules. In addition, just in the past month or so the company announced several new benefits that including college coaching – personalized coaching service for employees who have children preparing for college, and military family deployment trip assistance, which provides financial assistance toward travel arrangements to the site an immediate family member is being deployed from.
