Partners in Education Announces Work-Based Learning
Opportunities for 6 TO 12 Grade Educators and Counselors

Contact: Brian Johnson, Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, (920) 593-3408, bjohnson@titletown.org

Partners in Education, a program of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce a work-based learning opportunity for 6th to 12th grade educators and counselors, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Partners in Education will cover 100 percent of the cost of credit for those who successfully complete the program.

The full workplace curriculum integration externship, as it is referred to, allows teachers and counselors to understand how academic content applies to the workplace. Participants will work for a local employer and have the opportunity to view the latest technologies, learn about career opportunities and readily identify skills, competencies and behaviors needed to be successful in the workplace.

"This program exemplifies another way that Partners in Education is committed to improving the quality of education in our community," said Brian Johnson, career education program manager for Partners in Education. "Educators and counselors are provided with a unique work experience that enables them to better prepare students for a rapidly changing workplace while earning credits that can be used for re-licensure."

A preview night on the program will be hosted on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, 400 South Washington St., Green Bay. Applications for the program are due March 14, 2008. The opening session for the program is scheduled for June 16, 2008 and the closing session and educator showcase will be held Aug. 14, 2008.

One- and three-credit options are available, as well as undergraduate and graduate options. A noncredit option is also available for those who wish to earn a stipend. Space is limited in the program and restricted to educators and counselors in the Greater Green Bay Area.

For more information or to RSVP for the preview night, contact Brian Johnson, career education program manager, at (920) 593-3408.
