FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb. 4, 2009
For hundreds of kids, fun took flight on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Lambeau Field at the 4th annual Partners in Education Drug Alliance Paper Airplane Toss. Collectively, the kids registered more than 660 flights with their made-on-site paper airplanes. In addition, 15 families signed up to participate in the family vs. family challenge; the Hunyar family took first place and for the second year in a row, the Holler family (a.k.a. The King Fliers), took second place.
The event was by far the largest to date and provided an opportunity for kids to not only fold and fly airplanes, but also experience a flight simulator, play Guitar Hero and participate in other kid-friendly activities. One of the neat things about the event was that anybody at any age could participate, said Rebecca Deschane, youth development manager with the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
The top two flights in each age category received a $25 savings bond, and the person with the longest flight overall received a $50 savings bond. Other award-winning paper airplane tossers included:
