Green Bay, Wis.- (Oct. 2, 2007)- The Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Steve Van Remortel is the recipient of the 22nd annual Daniel Whitney Award, sponsored by the Chamber. Van Remortel was chosen as the outstanding volunteer of the year by Chamber staff for his tireless energy and advocacy of Chamber programs.
In recent years, Van Remortel helped found the CEO/CFO Roundtable program which has resulted in seven roundtables and continues to grow. He is also an active mentor for young entrepreneurs and possesses a civic passion for Chamber activities. Van Remortel serves on the Chamber’s board of directors and its group purchasing board of directors. "Steve brings a high energy level to anything he participates in from groups such as the CEO/CFO Roundtables to the GPI board activities; and it is contagious," said Ray Kopish, vice president of member services at the Chamber.
The Daniel Whitney Award was created in 1985 in memory of one of the first easterners to call Green Bay home, Daniel Whitney.
