Green Bay, Wis.¬- (Aug. 21, 2008) - Current, Green Bay’s young professionals network, is launching its Read to Lead series Sept. 15, 2008. Each meeting will be held at The Daily Buzz at 130 E. Walnut, Green Bay, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. For one night each month area leaders discuss the impact a certain book had on their professional lives, and how you can use the lessons they have learned from the text.
No reading necessary! Current initiated the Read to Lead program as a way to encourage young professionals to pursue professional development through reading. Individuals are encouraged to attend even if they don’t finish their reading. This group is designed to offer participants a chance to network and to reflect on leadership, best practices, and other special topics pertinent to a variety of industries as well as interact with area leaders who have significant work experience and are generally more advanced in their careers.
This season’s series will begin Sept. 15 with Pat Hopkins and “The Power of Nice: How to Conquer the Business World with Kindness,” by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval. On Nov. 3 Bob Atwell, President and CEO of Nicolet National Bank will discuss “Thomas More: A Portrait of Courage,” by Gerard B. Wegemer, and for the final series meeting April 6, 2009, learn why it’s good to be a right-brainer when Donsia Strong Hill of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. discusses “A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers,” Will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink.
The Read to Lead series will be held at the Daily Buzz in downtown Green Bay from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. RSVPs are appreciated but not required. The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the event or how to become a member of Current, contact Brian Johnson at (920) 593-3408 or bjohnson@titletown.org.
